Adding Bali to the "will return someday" list!!

Wow! What a place! I'm in taste bud heaven! The food is amazing!

We had a great day today! As Dave wrote, it's so nice to be away from the tourists in Kuta, and especially so after a week in party town Phuket. This morning, we borrowed the bikes available to the visitors here at the guest house and rode for miles! We left the village and went out into the country, through a couple of other villages and out to the rice paddies. Such a gorgeous countryside...neat, rectangular rice paddies stepped into the countryside surrounded by palm trees. Everything is green and lush. We came back into Ubud but stopped to watch some preparations for ceremonies ahead of next week's silent day. Then, we headed for the market where we may have done a little shopping! ;)

After our day out, we returned to the guest house and jumped in the pool to cool off...it's hot and very humid here!

Tonight, we had a private cooking class with Siti (the wife) while Allen (the husband) joined us just to chat! We made soup, a spicy fish dish that gets steamed in banana leaf, gado gado, a spicy vegetable salad and deep fried bananas with honey, coconut and lime. All was delicious, and yes, I have the recipes and a few tricks! We had a lovely evening of conversation with Siti and Allen as well. Allen has traveled extensively over the years, so he has many stories to share.

All in all, a fabulous day. Tomorrow we return to the coastal town of Kuta to spend a few more days. If the weather and waves cooperate, we may do some surfing. We also connected to Fei Fei and Tudor in Singapore and are very much looking forward to seeing them later in the week!
